Once my dreads are done (which will be by next weekend), I plan to goof off and do a few photo shoots for the website. Might use one for the header. Might not. The photos I take will for sure be used on the about page as well as on the sidebar. The photo that is currently being used on the sidebar of the blog page is older than Methuselah. I would like to have something a little more current.
You know… something that can express how truly old I have become (dad status).
With that, just for giggles, I have been skimming a few bands that I like to come up with ideas for locations to take photos. Here are a few basic photos that I like that might be the inspiration for the photos that get taken soon.
One thing to keep in mind with all of these examples would be that I realize it would just be me in the photos. With that, I would either be centered in the photo or off to the side in the photo. If I am off to the side, that would leave enough blank space in the shot to add the logo.
The tall grass, white sky look
The green screen
The brick wall alley
Anyway, I think you get the point. And yes, I am picking the cliché photo op ideas on purpose. Although these all typically look clean and good, they are all pretty silly. The reason for this is the fact that every band in the hardcore-deathcore-metal scene is going to have… if not one, all of these in their photo shoot library.
Along with the tall grass, green screen, and the brick alley… you have the wood panel backdrop, the car garage rooftop, the garage door wall… and many others. But literally, most bands in the “core” scene are going to have all or one of these.
I think it’s funny.
So, why not have fun with it? When my dreads are done next week I am going to start scouting out spots. I already have one car garage rooftop picked out, because… you know, I’m that legit.
