New Release doesn’t mean the work is over

Now that the album is on the table, what next? With the album complete it’s time for the real work to begin. Although I have heard from a few labels positively, and a few labels negatively, the goal is to still work toward finding representation for not only this album, but for future releases as well. Alongside doing this, in the coming months Russell and I will be hitting the promotion front for the new release pretty hard. I will be getting some posters and flyers printed. We will be posting those all over town in our own region (obviously). But, we will take it a step further than that by reaching out to some of the contacts I still have from my once long time ago touring days in an effort to spread the flyers and posters into other States.

While we are doing this we will continue to send the album out to labels hoping that someone will take an interest in our studio project. I will also be hitting promotion pretty hard by getting flyers into the hands of bands out there that I know who are still touring regularly.

So, just because we posted the album doesn’t mean that the work is done. Not hardly. We have a lot to do. And we’re working on it.

Once the flyers and posters are made and printed, I will be sure to post about it so that you can get a look at how they turned out.

As for the studio, doing this large of a project less than a year into owning the studio equipment has been a real eye opener for me as a newbie behind the helm of a music producer.

Although I have learned a lot, I will be the first to admit I still have a lot to learn. I’ve already dreaming up ideas for the next project that Russell and I start on in the future. I am already thinking of easier ways to do things. Faster ways to set things up. How to pre-stage better so that my mastering stage is easier. The list goes on and on…

But, that’s the fun of it. Not only jamming out, writing music, recording and releasing… but the learning and growing part too. There is only one direction to go from here with the quality of what I produce… and that’s up.

This new album has been a blast to work on. And, if you haven’t downloaded your copy for free yet, be sure to do so.

Too Much Bass and a Cover Art Reveal

Now that the upcoming album has been completed for a little more than three weeks, I haven’t taken a listen to it in a long while. With a fresh set of ears finally coming back to it, I have decided that I have made a “beginners” mixing mistake. I’ve mixed in way too much bottom end with the bass and the kick drum.

With that on the table, once my AC gets fixed, I am going to spend a few weeks doing a new mix down of the project before it gets released. I was happy with the project before, but now that I’ve stepped away from it and have come back… taking my time, I think I’ll be much happier with the entire thing since I’m taking it slow by not getting into a hurry to release it.

Lastly, since I will be taking a little longer to release the album I thought I would go ahead and show off the upcoming album artwork. The concept was something that Russell wanted to do. His sketch didn’t look quite like this… but it was his sketch that made me decide to go with this design mock-up.

Website updates are complete

I don’t even want to know how many man hours I have put into updating this website layout now that I have a new band member and an upcoming full length album to pitch to labels soon. I spent the last three or four nights staying up “waaaayyyy” past my normal bed time getting this thing laid out to completion.

But, it is finally done. And now, with that phase of the new release completed, I can get back to doing the final edits and mix-down for the upcoming release. Since today is Sunday, August the 4th… I think I will be ready to pitch to labels by Sunday the 18th at the latest.

Fingers crossed of course.

Photo shoot pictures in preparation for new release

This week Russell and I took a few photos to prep the website for a revamp while also having a few extra to put together with the EPK packet that we plan to put together soon. This EPK will be used to pitch the upcoming album to a few different record labels.

But anyhow, with no further ado… here are the few photos that I’ve taken the time to actually edit.

Tracking for the New album is Complete

Well, we finished tracking for the new full length album. I am super excited, because we finished several weeks earlier than I expected too. Not only was today a recording session, but a writing one as well. Today we wrote and recorded lyrics off the cuff. And I have to say, Russell came though. Because today’s lyrics are probably my favorite ones on the album.

I plan to spend the next few weeks doing edits and a final mix down on everything.

Other than all of the post edit and mastering (which I am still a total newb at), we are getting ready to start pitching to labels soon. Album artwork is done. Recording is done. Between now and post production finals we plan to get some promo photos around town to be sure we look the part.

Yeah, you know. lol

Anyway, getting this home studio up and running has been a lot of fun. I’ve very happy to have gotten it off the ground. Just wondering why I waited so long to do it.
