Well, I just released a new EP with indie record lable, Raven Faith Records. Talk about exciting. I could spend a bunch of time talking it up, but rather than do that I think you should just take a listen to the EP!!!
Without getting into too many of the details, I just wanted to do a minor nod toward the coming future for A Martyrs Oath. I have recently locked in a 3 song EP release with a Christian indie label. The EP will be dropping very soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out some of the existing artists over at Raven Faith Records. I am really excited about the upcoming release.
Well, life has been good to me in that I have had a bit of free time to spend writing and recording despite all the challenges that parenting may bring. I’m on a roll.
I just finished the rhythm section for the third song in a three song EP that I’m working on. I am really happy with how things have been going so far. But, that’s the writer in me talking. Writing songs and laying down tracks is the easy part.
Once I’ve laid down the vocals and the lead guitar the hard part begins. The area in which I have zero experience (post editing). Wish me luck. Hopefully the hard part doesn’t swallow me alive.
Well, I bit the bullet and got the mic I wanted. On my way home from work today I stopped by the ol’ Guitar Center and picked up the Shure SM7B. I have been doing a lot of homework on the subject and I feel like I made the right choice. Since I am recording a deathcore EP right now, I am almost to the point that I am ready to write and record vocals. The issue here is that I don’t really have any experience with doing hardcore screaming style vocals. Regardless, I am excited to get in there and experiment with it.
I have the rhythm sections completely laid down on two songs. And I am in the middle of writing the third song. Once I am done writing the third one, and have laid down the official rhythm tracks for that song, I will be ready to start writing the lyrics for the EP.
In the meantime, I have been eyeing a record label or two. Even reached out to one in particular to just say hello. Other than that I have been keeping it casual and just writing some tunes. I am pretty happy with how it is turning out so far.
The three song EP is under way. Although the stuff I am writing isn’t ground breaking, I am having a lot of fun with it. The rhythm section for one song is laid down. I have a friend currently writing some sweeps for the song while I work on writing and recording the second and third song.
