I haven’t posted anything in a little bit, so I thought I would throw together a real quick update for anyone out there that may be wondering where I’ve been lately.

Move. Cardboard boxes and cleaning things for moving into a new home

I have some big changes happening. The family just got a new house and we are spending the coming months moving into the new house while also working toward putting my current house on the market. With that, the studio and the recording projects have taken a bit of a back seat until things settle down a bit. In the meanwhile, I will say… I’ve managed to crank out about 8 or 9 really solid song ideas in the studio since the release of my last project, Ignorance is Woe, with DIY Iowa based record label, Raven Faith Records.

Once we get totally moved and settled in I’ll be back to working on songs. Once I am totally settled in my hope is to find a few people to record with so that A Martyr’s Oath adds a little more flair to it!

Now that the Ignorance is Woe EP has been available for two weeks, I think it’s time for a Central Texas Starbuck Poster Promo Tour!!!

These flyers have gotten sent out to about 10 different States, an equal part to the northern and southern States. With that, I have decided it is time to spread out the rest of them locally. There are a few places, like local venues are hipster restaurants. But, the primary spot that we all know will always have the so called “community board” is going to be Starbucks.

Other than this promo push that I plan to do all at once on a single day very soon… I plan to take a step back from sending out flyers. I’ve been thinking about whether or not if I should put together some band merch; things like an epic deathcore shirt or a band logo sticker. I might… I might not.

Either way, once the Starbucks flyer flood happens, I will post on how it went.

Just for fun while relaxing this afternoon I thought I would mess around a bit with Photoshop. I snatched a few of the band promos from the new label that I am with, Raven Faith Records, and put together a before and after. I’m no expert, but I think the after images have a cleaner, smoother look. The first one is from a band called Rival Empire. The second is from Outside the Shadows. The second one was a little hard to clean up because it had a gradient type of affect already on the photo. Regardless, you should check OTS out. They have a new release coming up in a few weeks or so.

Two new reviews came rolling in today. One of them came from Total Metal Onslaught Magazine. While the other one came from the For Good Reason Music Group.

A Martyr’s Oath just dropped a three song EP called “Ignorance is Woe” and all I can say is I’m intrigued. This is the first time hearing these genres mixed. I am a fan of spoken word tracks but this sermon jam over hardcore really mixes things up. Released through Raven Faith Records, these tracks mix Pat’s original music with sermon excerpts from Dr. Kent Hovind. This is Pat’s first release in seven years and I think this release will definitely get people talking about him again. I look forward to see what he has in store for the future. These songs can be downloaded for free on Bandcamp or can be listened to on Youtube. Go check out his website for more information about what Pat and his band are all about! – FGRMG

Now that my new EP has been out for a week, the time to really hit the promotion bandwagon has come. As stated in a previous blog post, I have already started getting flyers out to various cities in a number of States. But, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Release review requests are starting to get sent out. Not only that, but a few radio hot spots are starting to feature the new music as well.

For example, Back Row Radio is now featuring the new release.

That’s pretty cool if you ask me.
